Silverplate lid
- Left side is oxidized with years of neglect.
- Right side is polished.
- Polishing silver plate depends on the condition of the silver plate. In this example, the silver plating was in excellent condition considering it is about 130 years old.
- Polished.

Five early 19th century spoons
(circa 1820, coin silver)
- The four spoons on the left were severely dented, dinged, and misshappen from 190 years of use and neglect.
- The right spoon was actually cracked and bent.
- All the spoons were passed down together as a "set" but they are not a matching pattern.
- Spoons were carefully restored by reshaping the spoon bowls, soldered as necessary and polished.
- While I would not normally polish 200 year old silver this shiny, it was necessary because of the severe damage.
